Overview

Pahalgam – Known as the “Valley of Shepherds,” Pahalgam was historically a grazing ground for nomadic tribes. It is also the starting point of the sacred Amarnath Yatra.

Gulmarg – Once called “Gaurimarg” (after Goddess Parvati), Gulmarg was renamed by Sultan Yusuf Shah Chak in the 16th century. It became a famous retreat during British rule and is now a top skiing destination.

Srinagar – Founded by King Pravarasena II over 2,000 years ago, Srinagar has been a cultural and political center. The Mughal emperors, especially Jehangir, contributed to its beauty, building iconic gardens like Shalimar Bagh.

Sonmarg – Meaning “Meadow of Gold,” Sonmarg was a key stop on the ancient Silk Route connecting India to Central Asia. It was also historically significant for Mughal and Kashmiri rulers as a summer retreat.

Doodhpathri – Translating to “Valley of Milk,” this hidden gem is believed to have been visited by Sheikh Noor-ud-din Noorani, a Kashmiri saint, who found the water here to be as pure and white as milk.
